The blocks are sturdy, mushy with out a rough parts (no concerns for splinters) and designed very well. The handiest element that is lacking is instructions. The set appears to fit the size and high quality of the German-made beechwood blocks on hand from HABA. They do not. The blocks are to not the identical scale, they're produced from a lighter, less-dense wood, they are made in China, and they are for previouser youngsters (5 and up) than the starter set (1 and up). This should be made clear in the description. It isn't.
